W.B. Jarvis 1935. Salmon Creek 8 mi. W Rogerson, Twin Falls Co., Idaho. May 14, Owl. One of the young of a family of Horned Owls had evidently fallen out of the nest and when I found it, it was huddled down amongst the rocks. I brought it to camp alive and this evening it ate four mouse bodies. The primaries are about two or three inches long, the tail feathers the same, and the rest of the body is covered with down save for the areas around the eyes. I examined several pellets found below the nest and found the following; Thomomys, Neotoma, Sylvilagus and Marmota and some unidentified bird remains. I have seen no indication of the presence of Thomomys in this area, but they must be here some place. Saved two parts of skulls of Thomomys. I collected one White-throated Swift, one Violet-green Swallow, one ? Sparrow Hawk and a Rock Wren. In addition I saw or heard the following: Mountain Bluebird, Prairie Falcon, Yellow Warbler, Great Blue Heron and Kingfisher.
