The [illegible] had to be very different. It was the last time I saw them, and they were in a better state than before. I think it was because of the way they had been treated by their owners. They had been kept outside all winter long, which made them very thin and weak. But now they looked much healthier again. I remember how sad I felt when I left them there. It seemed like such a cruel thing to do to animals that had done nothing wrong but try to survive in the wild. Their eyes told me so much about what they were going through, and it broke my heart every time I saw them. But even though I tried my best to help them, I couldn't change everything. Some of them died anyway, and others stayed behind with their owners. Still, seeing them happy again brought me great comfort too.
