Probably most of the many hummers noted were of this species, as was a nest containing 2 nearly full-grown young. Restricted to vicinity of wet meadows and streams. Colias afer: Common at lower altitudes along Fish Creek Trail. Aphyracius varius: Common throughout, but less numerous than most species. Aphyracius hypodictus: Very common throughout. Dryotetes villosus: Fairly common in conifers near Red's Meadow. Dendrococcus dryocetes albo larvatus: Very common throughout. Lioides archinus: Rare. 1 pair seen (or collected) + a lone & seen later in the Dayon Trail to Red Cross. Ensidonas trailii: Common in vicinity of streams. Contopus richardsonii: Abundant throughout. Tachycineta thalassina: Seen on one occasion. Cyanocitta stelleri: Common in coniferous forest and/or ridges along Fish Creek Trail. Parus gambeli: Common throughout. Nesting.
