May 6, 1946. catching the chuckwalla, we went into Victorville, picked up groceries water, fresh ice for the Ensatina and Bufo californicus, + had the Coleman lantern repaired. We then went to a barber shop, where Bob had his haircut, + I lost a 5 days growth of whiskers, which had an in- teresting microflora, but which were most uncomfortable. Following this, we left Victorville south on Hwy 66, and 3 miles out of town turned off on road running WNW (unnumbered) to Little Little Rock. We turned off this road at Plano, 11 mi. ESE of Little Rock and took a dirt road almost due to Big Rock Creek, in the Angeles Nat'l Forest, Los Angeles Co., Calif. A short way out of Plano we found a 3' specimen of Crotalus scutulatus D.O.R., but it was too badly mutilated to save. We drove to Big Rock Campground, which lies at the foot of on Big Rock Creek.
