The Chief Ranger is a Mr. Ogden. I did not meet him, but he is evidently very much interested in birds, and actively serves them. He also has added to a generally kept up the check-list prepa- ed by French Gilman, I could definitely be helpful. He has the amended copy of Gilman's check list in his files. Gil- man listed 185 Species. There have been added to him White Pelican, White-winged Dove, Chukar Partridge, & Starling. Mr. Ogden also observes birds, but was he who first served the Chukar Partridge. In p.m. went to Ryan's look narrow-gauge railroad trip through old borax mines, a very enjoyable trip. Feb. 15. Hunted in a.m. One of English Sparrow from date palm (1926). This bird also had crop stuffed with date pulp. At least 3 Red-shafted Chickadees in date or- chard. Tift's noted our wire fence near date orchard. In p.m. went to Death Valley Scotty's castle. English Sparrows very abundant there. This is 5 3 miles North of Furnace Creek Ranch.
