Parus atricristatus
Feb 19. 17 mi. S Washburn, 3400 ft., Armstrong Co., Texas
It left cottonwoods and went into junipers.
I heard it fly upstream as I stalked it in junipers
within 20 yards of bank, but I was unable to locate
bird subsequently.
I left the area at 12:25 and retraced my steps
up the tributary toward the Harrell ranch-house.
I heard no titmouse calls and no answer to my whistling
in area where bird taken this morning. I noted a
row of cottonwoods along the streamcourse here, more
than I had remembered earlier and more than
in other areas in this canyon. I reached the
house at 1:50 p.m.
