Oct 13. In canyon, 6:20 - 8:00 am, 9:30 - 11:45 am, 1:30 -
5:15 pm. Warm, clear. See acc't for Parus
inornatus, P. rufescens, Cyanocitta, Microtus.
Red-shafted Flicker perched on telephone wire
at 9:30 am gave call "Teal" from that perch.
Oct 14 Willcat Cr., Contra Costa Co., Calif. In picnic ground
downstream from tennis court Black-throated
Grey Warbler (♀ plumage) and White-breasted Nuthatch
seen foraging in oaks at 10:30 am.
On a walk along south bank of creek and around
Jewel Lake (10:45 - 12:00 noon), Hermit Warbler
♀ in woodland (Cogswell), Winter Wren, Bewick Wren,
Audubon Warbler; at lake: Lora, Coot, Red-winged
Blackbird (feeble chorus from cattails), Black
Throated, Ruby-crowned Kinglet (♂ singing) ♀ in
willows at dawn.
