K Dixon 1951 Paris Apr. 24 Spring Creek, 6 1/2 mi. EN/E Skidmore, 175 ft., Bee Co., Texas I walked N to windmill and worked about in posted "savanna" there. I heard no thrice except a burst of song at 10:07. The wind was so strong that I couldn't determine direction so I departed at that time. I did not hear the ? along the river ? of house sing at any time during the day. Apr. 25 Cloudy with wind from SE; a few raindrops now and then. At 7:20, thrice sang peer -- (8 or 9's) from about E bank of tributary 100 yds N road (NW windmill next) Answer from S of road Bird to N sang rather steadily for next 8 min.; southern bird infrequently. I did not see former nor did I hear other thrice within. At 7:30 (he) sang from W bank or if that was another thrice, he did not answer. Nothing further here by 7:35 No activity S of road until I heard song to S while standing at the gully - I followed up and located two 8's; one SW of other in blackjack, other 75 yds NE of where I had seen "big liveoak" ? (bird not found yesterday). 7:55 both in same trees exchanging song birdich of NW, ridicle (in 5 's) by bird NE' of me. Silent by 8:00 then song resumed by bird farther W while E bird retained his post - I stalked him and he stopped singing and gave infrequent notes text and started to move SE in scrubby liveoake. I took him (#596). This bird probably is the one I seen to SE, Mch 31 and April 4
