K Dixon 1947 Journal 68. June 25. 2 mi W Ft Hawes R.S., 4000 ft, Powder River Co, Montana Reliving. Strong wind blew from west at dusk; clouded in; calm by 10:00 PM. Bat seen flying through camp at this time. June 26. 2 mi W Ft Hawes R.S., 4000 ft, Powder River Co, Montana clear, sunny, warm as I left camp at 6:10 AM. Walked upstream in riparian box elder, cottonwood and willow. In area about 1/2 mile from camp collected a singing O House Wren (No 65) and another (O, no 66). Followed O Yellow Warbler for several minutes as it sang and foraged moving from tree to tree along the stream. Found that this O was fledgling & on nest near periphery J willow about 18 ft above ground. Collected the ? (No 67) and soon afterward, the O. Heard Ovenbird in pines to south singing - stopped song when H.H. Miller attempted to collect it. Noted Wood Pewee carrying food to nest (not located) in same grove where Yellow Warblers were taken. Mountain Bluebirds perched in pines and on wires; Larkbuds flew over. I proceeded downstream and collected a O Spotted Towhee, later discarded as it was damaged badly by shot. Noted pair Eastern Kingbirds in willows. On pines on slope NW of Camp, 2 pairs of Cassin Kingbird were quarrelling. Managed to collect one, a O no 70. Noted Western Tanager O in this ar
