K Dixon 1947 Journal 67 June 25. 2 mi. W F. House R.S. 7000 ft. Powder River Co. Montana. Mountain Bluebirds flying out over flat mesa top and returning to perch in top branches of pines at edge of ridge. Collected an immature bird of this species. Proceeded over edge of slope down a few yards to where a Towhee was singing among the juniper. Moved around slope to a rockpile where I collected a Rock Wren (No 67) perched in juniper stump where it had flown when I called it up. I moved closer and collected a wren which was singing the familiar ringing trill. This bird (No b1) proved to be a q. Both birds had good patches. In an area of rock 75 yards long and 25 wide there were about 4 pairs of these birds. NW 09:45 AM and I commenced return to camp. Noted 2 Red-shafted Flickers remaining in same area repeatedly, apparently paired. Nighthawk flying overhead giving screeching call and "booming". Sparrow Hawk perched in dead tree on ridgetop. House Wren in fallen timber apparently nesting. Robin flew over and perched in dead tree top. Stupied chipmunks seen frequently about fallen timbers. Returned to camp at wooded lake shore from nest at base of clump of grass, nest 10:15. Deep cup of grasses on ground, contained 7 newly hatched young. Noted Say Phoebe working on rocky slope north of camp throughout afternoon. Violet-green Swallow flying above same slope. Noted Yellow Warbler, Billcock Oriole, Cassin Kingbird, Wood Pewee, Robin,
