During the morning I heard song of vireo from trees W of Museum as I have occasionally during the past week. Feb 11. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co., Calif. Sunny morning, calm. Heard one singing in oaklands along creek opposite Poultry ranch house at 9:45 and in same vicinity at 10:40, alternating with shrill song of Plain Titmouse. Another singing along creek (2nd tributary) south of Botanic Garden at 10:25. Third alternating song with Plain Titmouse W of pool at 10:50. All songs the same "burr"set" of rising inflection. Apr 1. Univ. Calif. Campus, Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. Sunny; fog clearing. 8:00 AM. Heard vireo singing burree (very dry) from land along creek W of Life Sci. Bldg. Song continued for several minutes quite monotonously while I was in vicinity; position of singer apparently did not change although I did not see the bird. Apr 9. Strawberry Canyon, Univ Calif. Campus, Alameda Co., Calif. Two types of song given in oak woodland but not alternate "zieen" or "bjeet" and the usual "greet", both of same quality repeated incessantly. 6:45, sunny day. Song not heard in area along creek opposite Poultry lab. Apr 11. Univ Calif. Campus, Alameda Co., Calif. Song heard W of MUZ about 1:00 PM, sunny day. Apr 20. Strawberry Canyon Song heard about 6:00 PM in area S of pool. Apr 29. Song at 8:40 from willows along stream near SE corner of Botanic Garden - oak woodland 25 yards away. Song heard infrequently 6:15-8:45 AM
