K Dixon 1947 Journal 50. June 16. Yellowstone River, 7 mi NE Glendive, Dawson Co., Montana. Partly cloudy, sunshine intermittent, Calm in afternoon. Valley of river about 2 miles broad with bluffs rising on both sides to prairie beyond. Cottonwoods in groves close to the stream; vegetation of other bottomland either meadows of coarse grass ± 1 foot high bordered with low rose and Symphoricarpos thickets and groves of low, somewhat shrubly deciduous trees. In the latter situations, the growth was somewhat open with the meadow, shrubbery and trees intermixed. Collected Coluber constrictor on grassy bluff above river (elevation 2000 ft) at 16:00 in afternoon. Collected adult Spizella pusilla in tree at edge of meadow. Bird in tree moving about, giving chip call repeatedly, had food in bill. Collected adult ? Setophaga ruficilla singing from exposed perch near top of a tree which was commencing to leaf out, at 18:00. June 17. Yellowstone River, 7 miles NE Glendive, 2000 ft., Dawson Co., Montana. Completely overcast following light rain during night. No breeze. In wooded area, chiefly box elder, within ¼ mile of camp from 05:30 until 08:30. Light rain fell between 05:30 and 06:00 and intermittent light showers afterward. Noted
