K Dixon 1950 Journal 41. Aug. 16. Egg being incubated by loomelania ♀ (K.L.D. #44) taken from burrow on East San Benitos I., Baja California, Mexico on July 22, 1950 was reported by A. H. Miller to be in an advanced stage of incubation and that the egg cracked upon handling. Both this ♀ and ♀ 444 gave appearance of having laid from what I judged to be corvua lutea - (one on ovary of 444). Both had incubation patches. The shearwater (# 446) had no incubation patch and its ovary was inactive, no follicles being distinguish- able or granular surface of the ovary. Aug. 20. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co., Calif. Swainson Thrush several calling from dense shubby Orange-crowned Warbler - one singing from oaks S of neck - others actively foraging Pileolated Warbler - more numerous than preceding Four of 5 individuals examined closely had shiny black caps. Solitaire Vireo - one foraging in oaks (silent) Western Flycatcher only one heard American Goldfinch - in brownish plumage of winter Aug. 23. Wildcat Cr., Contra Costa Co., Calif. Clear calm evening. 7:20-7:40 Martha P O walked from picnic grounds down road to Jewel Lake & returned. Sun near setting, shining only on
