Robin heard scattered individuals Morning Dove one seen Flicker one drumming on stump Hairy Woodpecker - calling Mtn. Chickadee, Audubon Warbler heard. 8:45 - 2 Poorwill ± 100 mi apart calling - silent after a few minutes. I saw no bats although Scott said one flew over camp. Clear, calm all evening. I set out 10 aluminum live traps at borderline of grassy meadow and Artemesia. Checked at 7:30 PM - all unvisited (traps set 10-15 paces apart, baited with oatmeal) May 27 Clear, cold, calm. I saw traps - all un sprung except one under Salsic beside spring which held a shrew (prepared by Bailey, cat. no. 77) Bailey caught 3 Peromyscus in 20 traps set in meadow. I left camp about 7:30 PM (daylight time) proceeding W toward little Truckee River. In Jeffrey pine open forest I heard Steller's Jay, Flicker, Mountain Chickadee, Audubon Warbler, Chloris, Robin. I worked down to the E bank of the river about 8:30. The stream was a fast torrent ± 40 ft wide narrowly lined by willow in new leaf & cattails 6-8 ft high. A road runs along the E bank - Artemesia & pine extending up slope. Stream runs N and S; noted Chloris, Song Sparrow pair, one Orange-crowned Warbler which flew across stream, one Dipper near wood fence in flight, 2 Clark Nutcrache. I shot a House Wren (singing ♂ No 403), saw Audubon Warbler, collected Chloris (♀o 404)
