Cedar Waxwings numerous in oaks in vicinity of Bot. Garden
Black-throated Gray Warbler & foraging in oaks W Poetry lab
cell not trip given
In canyon 8:00-8:40-impressed with extremely late
singing of Black-headed Grosbeak even after activity of
Swainson Thrushes had diminished.
May 9. Sunny, calm. I was in canyon briefly at 7:45, returning
9:15-9:45, 10:30-11:10. See specia acc't Paus inornatae
Pipilo fuscescens, Acolbortyx
Cedar Waxwings present in some numbers.
Returned to set traps 7:45-8:35. Noted Horned Owl
in small oak SW Botanic Garden-nore seen in vicinity
of Poetry lab this year.
May 10. In canyon at 7:50 AM. Sunny, calm. Details given under

Cedar Waxwings have departed for most part-flock
of 18 SO of creek at 9:00 AM.
Solitary Vireo singing in oaks of draw W lab at 10:30
Red-breasted Nuthatch in oak-lower upper part of draw Nob
at 10:45
Olive-sided Flycatcher in oaks inside Garden at 10:00
Yellow Warbler seemed more numerous than previously
singing in the oaks.
