Mar 19. Artists Camp, 1600 ft., Mt. Diablo, Contra Costa Co., Calif.
Clearing weather following rain of 1 M. (sunny, light breeze from N). Martha and I spent about an hour 3:50-4:45 PM watching nice vother birds in an area largely live oak with scattered digger pines. Observations were made at a point at 2100 ft. elev (see sp. account, Parus inornatus) 5:00-5:20 PM. In nearby City of Rocks area observations were made 5:30-5:45 PM. Species noted:

Acorn Woodpecker Cedar Waxwing
Flicker ("wick-up" call) House Finch ({o congregating in top of tall wide oak)

Busk-tit ? Swallow (white bellied)

The Chestnut-backed ? Chickadee seen in this vicinity by Dana Abel 6 weeks ago were not in evidence during our brief period of observations.
