KDixon 1949 Pipilo fuscus June 8. Univ. Calif. Campus, Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. Shrubbery 10 yards NE of nest poplar. However when this bird flew back to join mate in oak, dog followed. Latter eventually departed. 11:30 clear day. During past 2 days one towhee has been foraging in the oak tree a good deal whereas other forages on lawn to considerable extent. Apparently both are feeding young in nests. HE Childs told me that young had left nest and were in bushes beneath window where observations were made. Nov 25. by road Putah Cr., 2.7 mi W Yolo Co line in Napa Co, Calif. Took ad. male #388 from pair feeding at edge of plums on bank of creek. Vegetation Blue Oak, Cottonwood Cercis, willow. (Leanothue-Digger Pine up slope) Putah Creek 7 mi by road E of county line Yolo Co, Calif. Cottonwood-Willow-Black Walnut (Blue Oak-Digger Pine up slope, lst locality down canyon where Brown Towhees were heard at noon of clear sunny day. (See journal acct.)
