K'Dixon 1949 Parus inornatus May 2. Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. Titmouse near Piedmont & Bancroft was heard singing before 7:00 AM on foggy morning. Individual probably unawaked. May 4. Visited Titmouse nest in elderberry at 55 Canyon Rd. (Terr. 7 & 8 of my Titmouse paper). This same cavity was used by Titmouse in this territory in 1947 and 1948. The juveniles were gone from the nest at this time (sunset). Robt. D Bowman reported that they were present on the previous evening. May 24. Heard singing on Bancroft Way at 8:00 - same apparently widowed bird. Singing seems to have diminished in past few days. June 1. Heard singing in same locality at 7:50 AM - clear, warm. June 6. Foggy morning following 3 hot days. Heard sica-see-dee-dee call repeated over & over by one bird on Bancroft Way near Piedmont. (Vol heard song briefly yesterday morning). Aug 1. Univ Calif. Campus, Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. Noon hour of clear, sunny day. Heard chattery calls of Titmouse and soft whistled peter peter peter. Following this three Titmouse flew overhead to a live oak ± 60 feet west of oak where they had first called. Calls and particularly song were continued for a couple of minutes before birds became silent. Apparent expulsion of a wandering juvenile. Aug 2. Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. V.E. Childs, Jr. reported that at about 5:30 PM August 1, 1949 he saw an adult Plain Titmouse feed an immature bird. A third bird present was not identified for certain as to age.
