Wood Pewee - ?singing Morning Dove - 2 immatures near ccc Bldgs; tails about, flight awkward; one perched for several minutes on eucalyptus log, other flew to branch 20 ft. up. Red-winged Blackbird - nesting underway at lake - 3? spaced so that territories were paced at 22-25 yards along lake margin. Territorial defense not rigid; birds did not appear too active (10:30). Coot - adult + 3 tiny fledglings noted. Black Phoebe - nest in eaves J bldg had 4 eggs. House Finch - in tall eucalyptus Pine Siskin in same trees, ? flying in exaggerated manner, circling trunk of tree, note for me set given Rough-winged Swallow noted Noted no yellowthroats at margin of lake Olive-sided & Ash-throated Flycatchers heard. Orange-crowned Warbler heard singing once May 21. Same locality. Clear, sunny, cold. In area N of golf course (quarry) 8:45-10:00 - southerly slope, grassy with some patches of mustard.
