Noted one individual of pair which I usually see on the north side of MVZ chase a Spotted Towhee and later an Oregon Junco which approached as Brown Towhee was foraging on lawn. Mid- morning (Recorded at later date) Mar 13. 8:05 AM. Noted Banded Brown Towhee chase a pair of Spotted Towhees from open lawn into shrubbery 30 feet away and then saw a Brown Towhee follow a spotted as it flew to another clump of shrubbery some 20 feet beyond, area of parking lot S of Life Sciences Bldg. Apr. 10 Same loc. 3:40 PM - clear calm. Noted towhee on concrete ramp on west side of steps at N Entrance to Life Science Bldg. Bird held eucalyptus leaf in bill, the leaf rolled into a circular band. A second towhee emerged from shrubbery or ground beneath shrubbery on east side of wall and flew toward first bird carrying twig with 2 leaves on it. Second landed on ramp ± 2 feet from first, both dropped leaves and gave loud call "sccur scc-uu sccuu" (the "pair-reinforcement" call - N.E. Childs)
