NDixon 1949 Ixoreus naevius Jan 6. Univ. Calif. Campus, Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. Clear morning, frost on ground. 9:00 AM. Was surprised to see two Varied Thrushes on the lawn N of the museum. Robins also present seemingly paying no attention to the thrushes. Foraging of the latter in this instance was similar to that of the Robin, the birds running forward a few steps, stop[pi]ng to listen or to pick at some object. Howard Cogswell mentioned that the two birds had been present for several days since onset of a recent cold wave. Jan 17. Noted one Varied Thrush at edge of lawn north side of MVZ at 1:30 PM - clouding in from NW, weather warmer in past week.
