Clies pointed out nest of titmice in willow on E bank of creek 50 ft below culvert under road, upstream from tennis courts. This cavity +/- 9 feet above ground was one which was used by a pair of titmice in 1948. One bird flew into tree and left only disturbed by people; a bird later entered hole and did not reappear; simultaneously o sang from oak to E. Presumably nesting well underway. Apr 9, Berkeley Alameda Co, Calif. Titmouse near corner of Bancroft and Piedmont began singing at 5:08 AM (relatively early for this species) This individual has been singing a great deal for the past 2-3 weeks and during this period has appeared alone - probably has lost second mate since November.
