3. A.Dixon 1949 Parus inornatus Jan 20. Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. About 8:15 AM heard bird singing in area approx 75 yards S of Cowell Hospital. In early afternoon Titmouse in eucalyptus NW Main library on U.C. Campus was singing clear peter peter peter, the accent distinctly on the first syllable of each phrase. Jan 29. 9:30 AM - Titmouse giving general call from area 20 yards NW 1948 nest site on Bancroft Way (see p. 2). Bird apparently alone. I have not heard song from this area for several days. Jan 30. 8:30 - song "sweet sweet sweet" heard from south side of International House. Feb 3. Song pa beat -- given from acacias mid way down Bancroft Ave on N side at 8:15 AM - bird then gave siskadee call, apparently alone. Feb 7th Male singing peter peter peter (very rapidly given) from leafless tree of S side of Bancroft ave. Another titmouse present in the same tree, presumably his new mate, the first indication of renating in this territory that I have seen. Time 8:10 AM. (see map, page 2). Feb 19. Strawberry Canyon, U.C Campus, Alameda Co., Calif, 9:30 AM Clear calm. Noted Titmouse (banded aluminum left leg, yellow/orange red on right) (F 12) of Territory 12(1948) west of Poetry lab - Pair along slope to W & singing in oaks, unbanded. Boundary the same as 1948 although pair to west.
