KDixon 1948 36. Journal Dec. 31 Yagi Well, 18 mi E Julian, San Diego Co., Calif. Opuntia bigelovii, Opuntia sp. (cholec). Noted Phainopepla ♀ + ♂ in ironwoods, latter would not fly but ducked slowly into mistletoe as if ill - certainly lethargic for I approached within 8 ft before bird moved. Also noted White Crowned Sparrows, lone Mockingbird, 2 couples at spring, cattle coming to water as we left at 5:40 PM (Daylight Saving Time). We noted no Scrub Jays along road E of Banner (Juniperus mesquite - chaparral) on either way as we drove thru - had seen 2 on previous trip.
