Dixon 1947 Journal July 30. Birch Cr., 18 mi NW Dillon, 7100 ft., Beaverhead Co., Mont. Reset 30 traps in area trapped in last night. Light rain at 7:45 PM. Watched for bats above clearing 08:40 - 09:00 PM - now seen flying although they had been seen on previous evenings. Saw immature porcupine (had seen adult earlier in evening). July 31. Birch Creek, 18 mi NW Dillon, 7100 ft., Beaverhead Co., Mont. Ran traps at 6:00 AM Caught 4 Sorex, 1 Sorex palustris, 3 Microtus in 30 traps. (S. palustris and one Microtus skinned by W.C. Russell; 1 Sorex discarded). Broke camp at 11:30 AM driving through Dillon and over Monida Pass to Pocatello. Camped 25 miles E Twin Falls, Idaho. August 1. En route Dillon, Mont., to Berkeley, California Left camp 25 mi E Twin Falls, driving to Twin Falls and south toward Wells, Nevada. 1 mi NE Rogerson, Twin Falls Co., Idaho Noted Taxidea on road in Artemesia area; also Ovis crenulates montanus (1) in same locality. Wells Co., Nevada Noted 9 nighthawks perched on top fenceposts along right hand side of road between Wells and point 17 miles west thereof. One 2 seen on adjacent fenceposts.
