K Dixon 1947 Journal July 27. Bird Creek, 18 mi NW Dillon, 7100 Ft., Beaverhead Co., Mont. was taken July 27. Entered grove and flushed a grouse which flew about 25 feet and flushed again when I stalked it. I located this Bonasa about 50 yards downslope and collected the bird (250). Proceeded downslope about 8:45 and collected Empidonax (251) in willows near mixed aspen- lodgepole grove. Collected Bonasa 252 (see sp. act.) Set 33 traps in marshy area & several streamlet in aspen meadow area at base of S-facing slope. July 30. Bird Creek, 18 mi NW Dillon, Beaverhead Co., Mont. Ran traps at 6:00 AM. Caught 2 Microtus, one Sorex palustris, 3 Sorex sp. and one Zapus in 33 traps. Microtus and Sorex Palustris taken beside ricker of water bordered with herbaceous vegetation and mosses and liverworts. Shibot Dryptales villosus which I was unable to locate. Walked to clearing near aspen grove 1/2 mi W of camp. Set 5 mouse traps in this area of rocks and grass and 2 more beside road at base of this S-facing slope. Shot Black- capped Chickadee in aspen grove but failed in attempt to find bird. Collected Litta canadensis (259) in same grove; noted Rana gambeli and Junco meansi. Returned to camp at 7:30 AM, Ran traps 1/2 mi W of camp at 3:30 PM; none disturbed (traps set for Butaracías
