July 26. Bride Creek, 18mi NW Dillon, 7100ft., Beaverhead Co., Mont.
Caught Sorex (228) in dried up pools with Equisetum
and low herbs at edge of lodgepole grove.
Walked upstream in willow thickets at 7:30. Called
up Black-capped Chickadee, too close to shoot. Noted
Pileated Warbler in same area and Audubon Warbler
also.. Saw Red-tailed Hawk perched in snag, screening.
Walked to marshy area around beaverdam;
navigated ash and lodgepole nearby. Shot young
Lincoln Sparrow. Collected Zonotrichia leucophrys
(? ) in willow and shot an immature. Saw
Pink-sided Junco in same area. Collected
Passerella (233) in willow shrub in same area
near creek. Collected Embidomys (?) in
willow shrub at edge of ash grove in same area.
Returned 09:00.
Reset traps in evening, relocating 10 traps.
Collected Melospiza lincolni in willows near
beaverdam. Caught Thamnophilus (234) in
quiet pool beside creek; young Lanius in same pool.

Clear, calm morning. Left camp at 5:45 AM to
run traps. Caught Microtus (238) in trap under
log in marsh, same trap in which Microtus (?)
was taken. Caught Peromyscus (240) in trap
at base of willow in lodgepole clearing 20 yards from
creek. Caught Peromyscus (239) in trap between
2 logs 18" from water in area of cleared lodgepole
