K Dixon 1947 Journal 99. July 18. 2 mi NE Cooke, 8000 ft., Park Co., Montana. Uplone to north 100 yards wide with downed logs and reproduction of conifers. Collected pair of Pileolated Warblers on shallow north-facing slope among young conifers. Returned to camp at 08:00 AM. Light showers in afternoon. July 19. 2 mi NE Cooke, 8000 ft., Park Co., Montana Clear cool morning. Left camp at 6:30 AM and ran trap lines in spruce forest. Caught one Clostho- nomys (♂, 186) in trap under fallen log 15 yards from stream. Herbaceous growth sparse in comparison to that I week area, chiefly Ribes. Reset 10 of the 25 traps in spruce woods and set 9 in willow bog area. Collected Hyloichla guttata (♂ no 189) in spruce woods; bird gave Spotted Towhee-like buzz and came to my hissing. Collected Dendrocia anduboni at edge of clearing in spruce-fir woods near willow bog. Took Melospiza lincolni in similar situation. Caught two Rasa in marshy area of sedges 1 foot high and mosses on ground - some willows in this boggy area. Returned to camp at 09:15 PM. Left camp in evening in company of HC Reynolds. Collected Cassin Fincha (♂, 193) in top of snag with another bird, presumably mate. Elevation 8500 feet at this point. Noted adult Bull Alces
