A Dixon 1947 Journal July 7. 2 mi E Shiver, 6500 ft, Carbon Co, Montana. No sign of bird again nor evidence of male or nest in thicket. Collected a singing ? Empidonax flycatcher perched on dead twig atop willow thicket (see species account). Noted ? Agelaius phoeniceus in area. Returned to camp at 9:30 AM. Cloudy but calm in evening following mid-day showers. Arrived at willow area at 8:00 PM in search of Hermit Thrushes -- only one song in willow area, very infrequently. Sun set at about 8:00 PM; only birds singing were Song Sparrow and Robins. Latter singing as I departed at 8:25 -- Song Sparrow responded to my hooting with song at that time. No evidence of Amphibia in area. July 8. 2 mi E Shiver, 6500 ft, Carbon Co, Montana. Clear sunny morning. Left camp at 5:20 AM walking to same area of marshy willow thickets visited July 7. Easterly wind 6-8 mph died within an hour. Worked in willow thickets, calling up Dendroica aestiva ? (no 132). Male not in evidence. Unsuccessful in effort to spread up ? Lazuli Bunting. Took ? Oporris [illegible] in willow thicket near brook; shot at ? but lost it (not a pair, presumably the ? shot at July 6) No signs of Hermit Thrushes
