KDixon 1947 Journal July 5. 2 mi E Shriver, 6500 ft., Carbon Co, Montana. Douglas Fir with some fir (Abies). Collected Ruffed Grouse along streambed (see species acc't). Returned to camp and started out over same route again. Flushed another Ruffed Grouse on the path 100 yards upstream from where the other (no 112) was taken. Went up along east- facing slope of this draw, noting Pink-sided Junco's but never seeing members of one pair together. Took one of this species (no 111) in a patch of ashen on west side of creek; ? not in evidence. Took a Ruby-crowned Kinglet foraging in Douglas Fir on this slope. Noted pair of Chipping Sparrows on ground and others (?) singing in conifers. Walked upstream and up onto ridge to east above clearing about 3/4 mile S of camp. Called up what appeared to be a pair of Junco's and shot one which proved to be immature. Called up 3 Mountain Chickadees, all too close to shoot after which time I selected and shot Audubon Warbler (D), No 114. Had fleeing glimpse of Hermit Thrush attracted by my calling - bird did not afford a shot. Walked downslope into denser coniferous growth collecting Pine Siskin in fir overhead. Proceeded into canyon in which camp is located and took a young Chickadee
