KDixon 1947 Journal June 30. Tri W FT Tower RS, 1400 ft, Powder River Co, Mont. Moved back to area near main branch I stream. Was following some crossbills when I flushed the horned owl which flew to nearby pine and then to another perch as I approached. Immature perched in tree nearby flew away. Heard Spotted Towhee - sang but could not approach within range when I called. I moved down to the creek, which was flat-bottomed, grassy, bordered with low shrubs and then pines on either side. Collected Least Flycatcher (No 88) in dense bush at edge of this dry streambed. Saw Yellow Warbler D' in one of 2 ashtrees 75E yards downstream. I worked upstream along edge of pines, looking for Arbolum Walkers. Took Solitary Vires in pine a few feet from streambed. Vires was singing and moved up closer to afford clear shot when I spoke. I went back up slope to NE and eventually flushed horned Owl twice. Collected Wood Pewee in open pine growth. The overbird, which had been singing earlier, resumed song and I slipped up to a point where I could see the bird walking on the ground in a stand of young pines. Bird sang every 3 or 4 minutes
