Do May, J. J. 1942 Eumeces skiltonianus Western Skink June 1. Cedar Grove, S. Fork Kings R., 4600 ft., Fresno Co., Calif. (cont.) going under fallen cedar log in shady grove of small cedars, red dogwood, and bracken ferns beside a quiet pool near the S bank of Kings R. When I tried to catch him, he disappeared under the log. A few minutes later, he came out and looked at me, but disappeared at once when I moved. The skink reappeared several times, peeping out from beneath the log, but he always kept his eye on me, and would not let me get close enough to catch him.
