The mammals most frequently seen about camp were the gray squirrels, chipmunks, ground squirrels, and mule deer. A bear raided our camp one night, and turned over the garbage can nearly every night, but kept himself well hidden during the day. White-footed mice of three species were the mammals most frequently trapped. The mounds of pocket gophers are quite abundant, and several gophers were trapped. A list of the mammals observed in or near Cedar Grove is as follows: bat (Myotis?)
