Although I had 19 small traps, 4 rat traps, and 4 gopher traps set out today, this is the only specimen caught in them. Traps were set about 10 faces apart along the edges of logs or in under bushes and small trees. If any holes were found that looked used, traps were set in front of them. Skin and skull of this specimen and all previous mammals (Nov. 16, 17, 24, and 28) were preserved. Traps were baited with crushed walnut meats. It was noted that the robin was still on her nest in the pine tree on the N.E. side of the river. The lizards were not yet out at 7:00 O.M., when the traps were collected. The ranger here states that the large Sceloporus are more abundant now on the N.E. side of the river because it is warmer there, but that they appear on this (S.W.) side later on. 30 to 35 inclusive. Sceloporus graciosus roosed on rocks and stumps or logs among "mt. misery". In sunny areas S.W. of camp. 36 Coral King snake seen beside trail above falls of S. fork of Sheep Creek. Collected it. 37. Collected Western Skink on trail below falls. Calliope Hummer still on nest near falls. Gray squirrels seen near camp.
