DeMay, J.D. 1942. Thomomys bottae Western Pocket Gopher May 22. Cedar Grove, S. Fork Kings R., 4600 ft., Fresno C., Calif. #17. Pocket Gopher caught on N.E. side of river in a Macabee trap set in sparse shade of pines and cedars. Ground covered with pine needles, sparse grass, a small mustard, and scattered low shrubs. About 100 ft. north of the river and 200 yds east of the bridge into Cedar Grove. When skinned, the specimen was found to have 4 enlargements in the uterus, but when these were cut open nothing but fluid was found. If embryos are present, they are too small to be identified in the field. June 2. Cedar Grove, S. Fork Kings R., 4600 ft., Fresno C., Calif. Large pocket gopher #56 caught in trap set in burrow about 100 ft. south of camp, among scattered yellow pines, firs, and incense cedars. Burrow opened about two feet from base of small Canthus bush not yet in bloom. A few thin grasses grow in the area. Testes measured 11 mm. long.
