Dr May J S 1942. Eutamias quadrimaculatus sequoia chipmunk. May 23. Cedar Grove, S. Fork Kings R., 4600 ft., Fresno Co., Calif. (28). This specimen was caught by Mrs. H. W. Guinnell in a trap set on the hillside south of camp, between fallen logs, small cedars, and mountain misery. The genitalia and part of the skin were eaten by ants and the end of the tail was missing. It was taken from (the chipmunk) the trap in mid-afternoon, but probably was cought in the morning. June 2. Cedar Grove, S. Fork Kings R., 4600 ft., Fresno Co., Calif. Early this afternoon Josephine reported finding a chipmunk in the toilet bowl here at camp. Mrs. Guinnell soon returned with the drowned animal on a stick, and mashed it off under the faucet. She then rolled it in sawdust and rubbed the fur. When it was dry, Josephine stuffed it, and it turned out to be a beautiful specimen. It was evidently a nursing mother, and Mrs. Guinnell suggested that it may have come to the rest house to drink. Since the place had been cleaned only a couple of hours previously, there was no water on the floor. The chipmunk evidently slipped and fell in when it tried to drink from the toilet. Some excitement!
