Western Gulls, brown swallows. Stopped at Devil's Head State Park, where there were many birds on the surf. Most were surf scoters, but further out Western Grikes, Western Gulls, Pigeon Guillemots (few), Brandt Cormorants, one other duck, and along beach rough-winged Swallow. Sea lion View. On Off's Pelagic + [Double-Br] Cormorants, Western Gulls, Pigeon Guillemots. Stopped at Charleston to see birds on River. Western Gulls, Common Herons, Barn Swallows along shore. Mud flats with sandpipers in the distance. Cape Arago Light house. Immediately found a Belted Kingfisher. White-Wing Scoters and Western Grebes in water, a few cormorants. Few Pigeon Guillemots (nesting) in water, on rocks. Western gulls. On the grounds of the lighthouse Barn Swallows, American Goldfinch, hummet, Robin, [? Rufous] Hummer ?. At Sunset Bay Park, casual birding produced Robins, Swainson Thrush, Wilson Warbler (many), Crows, Goldfinch, humnet, Orange-Crowned Wrenbler, [?] rufos hummers (?), Hermit Warbler (?), Song Sparrow, Common nighthawk, Chesnut-backed Chickadee. Empidomax Flycatcher, ? Pine Siskin. Set 5 traps casually around the tent, Elvey set 2. Area is very open Poplar-alder type forest with undergrowth of shrub-cabbage, low forest)
