Paul De Benedetti 1961 June 26 Douner Lake, 6008 ft, Nevada Co., Calif. (Spylea) a few Erynnis, one fritillary, and a few sheep moths. Birds were scarce. We saw a brown thring, lid with white tail feathers at the cabin + heard juncos + pewees everywhere. Some one large Accipiter sp., white bellicd, brown above, size of crow, landed on a pine + 2 red-shafted flickers, flying. By one of the trichles we found grass and clover plentiful and here got Plebjus saeptolus + anna, saw checkerspots, crescents, one Spylema fritilla and sulphurs. Also saw juncos aud one Hicher. Followed a trickle down and saw many checkerspot's and a few Lamentis lo-quini, got an Erynnis, and saw one pewee. Only saw one chip- munk today. Got back about 11. Saw a MacGillway warbler (+) in the alders in bach of the cabin. Saw a dark warbler with a yellow throat up in the pines. Later went birding but didn't see many birds. Robins (+ 1 juv.) everywhere and a few pewees + juncos, 2-3 tanagers in the pines, and a ? vireo, with very clear pale eye stripes, in a fire. At the cabin saw a ? Audobin warbler in a willow, a few (2) Wilson warblers in alders. Nothing in the haps (6 out). We went to Squaw Valley about 2. Saw nothing on the way. In the valley few butterflies but many birds. In alders several wilson warblers. In the meadows along the creek black birds (bicolor + Brewer), many kill deer, a few spotted sand- pipers, and one flicker in the willows. Sand pipers
