Paul DeBenedict: 1960 Nov 25 Chas, Joe Tilden Regional Park, Contra Costa Co., Cecil - looked like it was going to keep on raining for quite a while, we finnally decided to head back to the trains in Tilden Path, where Mr. Hippmann was to meet us at 2:30. We collected along the upper part of the slope we had come along on the way back. IImar got a beautiful large Gyrhohooks, and I found a few BaNchaseps, saw 2 Eumeccs, and 2 Scolopens- and got a jow. Gyrhohooks. Under many of the rochs were beautiful red & blackrove bettles. One type had a solid red abdoman and the other red with a black patter like this: , very pretty insects. We Got up to the trains about 1:30, all of us sooting wet!! While waiting we tested the durability ot this rag paper & Higgins Eternal ink (it passed). The Peromysces we saw were frightened out of some rochs by Gene. I would to get them, so we all went down after them. Elvey scared one out, and it went hopping towards a jar Ilmar was holding, only to disappear down a hole about 6" in front of the jar. Judging from the animals seen today, collecting will be quite good this spring. This evening about 8 Mr. [Terrence B.] Corren called me and asked if I wanted to go up to Tilden and look for Hy las. I said O, Ks, and we went up. We had quite a time getting up as it was soggy
