Dada, D. 1981 Journal Mexico Oct. 20 We worked at Golden tree east of town. Ted found one snake - a Tropidodryas. No salamanders. We checked into a hotel east of town - the Playa Azul (hotel 3). This is a big hotel complex. Not very well kept up but reasonable rates. We returned to Cotemaco to look around town for Bolitoglossa platydyctylus. Ted, Dan, and I worked the street, offering $100 pesos for the first salamander found, 50 for any more. One kid found a Bolit. plat. under some rocks next to a courtyard wall. A good sized animal. Beautiful, noble (as Ted says). Dark with flesh colored stripes down the back and tail. We ate in town at 6:00P. and returned to the hotel. Ted and I returned to town to lantern-walk. No salamanders but many, many screaming birds and people. From Upper returning to the hotel, we found Dave and Dan trying to get two platys out of wall cracks.
