Dada, D. 1981 Journal Mexico Oct. 18 We got up at ~6:30 A. and ate breakfast at the Hotel Margarita. We left the Margarita at ~9:00A. We drove SE out of Oaxaca on Mex. Hwy 190 (Pan-American) toward Mitla. At Mitla we turned NE on Mex. Hwy. 179. Mitla has a Pemex. The road from Mitla is definitely passable but dusty and muddy in places. The road passed thru Ayutla. Today was market day and the streets were packed with people. Mitla -> Ayutla = ~50km. Several km. (~8) past Ayutla, Ted and Stan got out to work the road-cut back to Ayutla. Dave, Jim, and I continued up the road for ~20 km to the intersection to (1:30P.) Totontepec and Quetzaltepec. Here, we got att and searched for Pseudoeurycea myxata. No luck. We started back (2:00P) and stopped at a couple of other places (road-cuts) on the way back. We returned almost to Ayutla and checked with Ted and Stan. Ted had four skins and one possible myxata. I got out and joined them. Dave and Jim went on into Ayutla and took an upper road so they were above us. By ~6:00P. we had four more possible myxata, one lelli, and four snakes -
