Dada, D. 1981 Journal Mexico Oct. 12 around the plaza in downtown before returning to the hotel. There is a beautiful cathedral off the plaza. In the area where we searched for salamanders, the trees were: one pine species, eucalyptus, and a few fir's. Things appear very wet yet. The wet season may not have ended quite yet. Oct. 13 We got up at ~6:30 A. Drove west on Hwy. 15 to almost the Mexican border to look for some salamanders. Found none after searching for over an hour. The habitat appeared favorable - much vegetation and wet. This was at about 9000 ft. elev. We returned along Hwy 15 and turned south before getting back to Toluca. We passed thru Zinacantapan, turned west on Hwy. 134, and turned south after ~eight miles. We climbed in elevation to about 3600 m. Again we looked for animals in the forested areas with again - no luck. We returned to Toluca at about 5:00 P. Dave and Jim are somewhat puzzled at the lack of salamanders. Dave of the places
