Dada, D. 1981 Journal Mexico Oct. 11 Left Berkeley at ~ 9:30 A. Departed San Francisco airport at 11:30A. Flew thru Dallas and arrived in Mexico City at ~ 9:00 P. Dave Wake, Stan Dossiers, and I flew together. We met Jim Lyndel at the Mexico City airport. We rented a VW bus and drove west out of Mexico City to Toluca via Mex. Hwy. 15. Found a hotel at Toluca ~ 12:30 A. Hotel Toluca. It was raining in Mex. City when we arrived. Oct. 12 We left the Hotel Toluca at ~ 9:00A. We got a room in downtown Toluca at the Hotel Don Carlos. From there we took the VW and drove west on Mex. Hwy. 15. This is beautiful country - very high mountain and rolling hills, still green from the wet season. Toluca itself is at about 8000 ft. We drove in to the state of Michoacan to the vicinity of Morelia. We turned rocks and wood along the road at ~ 2900 m., but had no luck as far as salamanders. Stan found one small frog. Rain began at about 3:30 P. We drove back toward Toluca and returned to the Hotel Don Carlos at ~ 8:00 P. We got. dinner near the hotel. Dave, Stan, and I walked
