16 Dec.
jump again. It worked. We checked
the traps at ~2:30 - no more jaguars
and even fewer felids. At the lodge 'til
~ 6:00 and back to the traps - no jaguars
again. Back to the lodge for the
evening.
17 Dec.
Up early and off to check the traps.
It was very cold, and we had trouble
starting the car. No animals in the
traps. We then took a ride which
turned out to be quite dry. Returned
to the traps - again with no jaguars.
We moved about 12 traps to new
sites in the same general area. Returned
to the lodge to find our toiletries
missing and [illegible] left for Amacurra.
We arrived in town at ~6:00 and found
a deep ($300.00 pesos) debt, had dinner,
and turned in.
18 Dec.
Up very early (~5:45) and off to
check the traps for the last time and
to pull them. We did this [illegible]
again got no more jaguars. Patty was
disappointed, but we were happy to
get out of the park without being
caught. We returned to Amacurra,
