Dada, D. 1983 Journal 13 Dec. Xalapa to Fortin Up at ~7:30, breakfast, and a little shopping in the city of Xalapa. Late in the morning we again tried to find Liana [illegible]. Liane was in good school at Yale with Phil Blyskal and now studied at INIREB, an ecological institute here. She is very involved with forestry management in Mexico, and we spent an informative and pleasant 1/2 hour with her. The INIREB institute is 2.5 hrs. out of town on the road to Coatepec. We returned by ~11:30 to the locality W of La Joya to make more searches. We worked about 1 hour with no luck. We returned to La Joya to find only 4 [illegible], one [illegible] (Plethodon?) and 3 P. capensis collected by the kids. We gave them some pesos and rewarded a while ourselves. The area seemed pretty dry, we passed up in Xalapa and headed toward Fortin. The road thru Coatepec is confusing, and we lost our way. Finally got to Fortin at ~9:30. Catalogued animals, joined, and for bed.
