Dada, P. 1983 Journal 11 Dec. At ~12:00 pm headed toward Tezuitlan. We stopped at one or two places along route 129 into Tezuitlan, but conditions weren't good - too dry, too little to fun. No animals. We continued past Tezuitlan on 129 toward Ilopacayan. This route drops thru cloud forest near Tezuitlan into savanna and warm climate near Ilopacayan. We worked many broadleaf (450) in cloud forest area several km inside Tezuitlan with no luck. There seems to be quite a lot of recent cloud forest high near Tezuitlan - trees farms, etc. Area looks good. We headed south and got a hotel outside of Altotongo, had dinner, and went to bed. 12 Dec. Altotongo to Xalapa Up early and on the road to Perote. We worked one area between Perote and Altotongo, but it was lean and dry. Much gunfire heard - possibly hunting season opening. Drove toward Xalapa and at Los Vigos headed up to the microwave station. Worked at the top for 2-3 hours. Got 1 Chirpy and P. Lagopus in the open area. Got 10 Churjes (at least some of them the white scaled - Oidre animata) and SP Lagopus on the SW slope
