Dada, D. 1983 Journal 6 Dec. returned to camp to see Patty and La goplera. Patty had set 16 traps, but had no more gopleras. We again were cold. Patty was not feeling too well due to the altitude. We got into the tent for warmth and had dinner before going to bed. 7 Dec. Popocatepetl to Xilotapac Up and 7:00 to very cold morning. More ice in the tent this morning. Patty checked her traps - 2 more sundowners. After warming up a bit, packing things and barely getting the *** car running, we were ready to leave. Unfortunately, the gopler Patty had caught the night before had died. We headed down to Amecameca. Patty was feeling pretty bad with the high elevation. We looked unsuccessfully for blocks ice and settled for bags of cubes. We bought some fruit for us at a really good market and carrots for the gopleras. We got gas and loaded meth. At Rio Frice we stopped for a snack and drinks. Again the car wouldn't start. At just that moment, a "green angel" truck pulled up.
