Dada, D. 1980 Journal Hastings Reservation Field Trip Nov. 21 a lot of light and may have aided the rate in detecting the rats. Nevertheless none were caught. We returned to the "schoolhouse" for dinner. After dinner at about 8:00 P. we went back and checked the mist nets, and there were still no bats. The moonlight was so bright that flashlights were not needed to see to walk. We checked the Sherman live traps and found we had several animals - Notoma, Dipodomys, Perognathus, Peromyscus maniculatus and P. truei. Gordy cad caught a opossum in a Tomahawk live trap (Didelphis). I spent the rest of the evening in a cabin up the hill just north of the lab. Robert, Gordy, Rosetta, Gord, Randy, and I made a fire, sang, and drank large quantities of beer and wine. I returned (at great effort) to the schoolhouse at ~ 1:00 A. and went quickly to sleep. Nov. 22 I got up at ~ 7:30 A. My stomach reminded me of the wine the night before. Breakfast was not an appealing idea, but I stopped by the schoolhouse anyway. David
