1983 Journal 19 Nov. Zozuilan to Oaxaca Up at 7:00. Sleeping in the van worked great, no traffic on the side road all night. We went back down to the main highway and headed toward Oaxaca. Just past the Oaxaca state line is the city of Teotitlan, [illegible] We got gas and turned into the town and found the road to Huentla leaving from town. This road is being improved and is pretty good. We stopped and collected in two places. (20:5 am) 10:35 A. (1) 20.5 km. from the main road - here we worked a small canyon along a river. Many downed, rotting logs, and good cover, but no salamanders. Seemed pretty moist. (20:50 m.) 12:15 P. (2) 20.2 km. from the main road - here there are many Quercus in oaks along the road. The grade is steep and hard to work. On ~20 fairly dry Quercus we again found no [illegible] salamanders. Frustration sets in! We returned to the main road and continued toward Oaxaca. At Cristobal we went into town to find the road to Santa Maria Popola. It turns off of the main square. This
