Darda, D. 1983 Journal 18 Nov. Gave him a ride to town. He told me of a cave ~ 2 km. walk from town. He isn't think there were salamanders there. He said their word for salamander is Ocojue michi and said they were found in trees. Also said there are "grandes", but I guess they may be lizards - Aloria o Barrio. We collected in an area before reaching Zoguillen. It was mostly oak with many jester-sloped branches. It seems perfect for arboreal salamanders. The branches were very wet. The localities we worked were from 14.4 - 11.0 km. below Zoguillen from elevation of 2580-2650 m. We got nothing in ~ 50-60 branches and 9 Ilorios on the ground in rotting logs and wood chips. The Ilorios are good sized. We worked about 4 hours overall, 1/2 at night with flashlamps. We found ~ 1/2 of the Ilorios at night, but in the same way as in day. We parked the van on the side of a side road and slept for the night.
